FAQ
Got Questions?
We would love to make your visit to Chennai as comfortable as possible. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly with any questions you might have.
Travel
Which airport do I fly into?
Fly into Chennai International Airport (MAA). If Chennai is not your first stop in India, you can connect to MAA from another major Indian airport.
Do I need a visa?
Visa requirements depend on your nationality. Many international visitors are eligible to apply online for an Indian e-Tourist Visa. Please confirm your eligibility and apply only through the official India e-Visa website.
The official application process includes uploading a photograph and passport page, paying the fee online, receiving the Electronic Travel Authorization by email, and presenting a printed copy at immigration.
What documents do I need for the e-Visa?
Please have the following ready:
- A passport valid for at least six months after arrival, with at least two blank pages
- A recent, front-facing, square passport-style photograph on a white background, saved as a JPEG
- A PDF scan of your passport’s photo page
- Your return or onward flight details
- An address in India
- A credit or debit card for the application fee
Once approved, print your Electronic Travel Authorization and save another copy on your phone.
How long does visa processing take?
Applications are often processed within three to five business days, but processing can take longer, particularly during busy travel periods such as December. We recommend applying at least two weeks before your trip to leave enough buffer time for delays or requests to resubmit a document.
Please check your inbox and spam folder after applying, and use the application ID to monitor the status. Visa requirements and processing arrangements can change, so always confirm the latest information on the official India e-Visa website.
Staying connected
How do I get internet and connectivity while travelling in India?
The easiest option is usually to activate an international roaming plan through your existing US mobile provider before travelling. This lets you keep your regular number and connect as soon as you land.
If your phone supports eSIMs, an international travel eSIM is another convenient option for mobile data. If you prefer an Indian number, prepaid SIMs are available from providers such as Airtel, Jio and Vi. Purchase one through an official carrier store and bring your passport, valid Indian visa, and Indian address or hotel booking, because identity verification may be required.
Will there be a wedding WhatsApp group?
Yes. We will create a wedding WhatsApp group closer to the event to share reminders, transportation details, and any important updates during the wedding weekend.
The wedding

What should I wear?
Wardrobe planner coming soon. We will share a dedicated guide with dress-code details, outfit inspiration, and guidance for anyone interested in wearing South Indian attire.
Do you have a gift registry?
Your presence in Chennai is all the blessing we could ask for. We are not expecting gifts and would simply love to celebrate with you.
Food & dietary needs
Is vegetarian food easy to find?
Yes. Vegetarian food is widely available in Chennai, and South Indian cuisine includes an extensive range of vegetarian dishes. Fully vegetarian restaurants are also common throughout the city.
Can you accommodate dietary restrictions or allergies?
We will do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies. Please include all relevant details in your RSVP, especially for serious allergies, so that we can plan carefully with the caterers.
Weather
What will the weather be like?
Chennai is warm and humid throughout the year, and there may be occasional rain during your visit. Pack light, breathable summer clothing and comfortable footwear. If you plan to visit temples or other places of worship, bring a few modest options that cover your shoulders and knees.
